Our Vision for the Educational Resource Centre
Phase One: Building a public lending library and Educational Resource Centre comprising:
- A large storage room where sets of textbooks for loan to local schools can be stored on shelving 
- The main library area housing the shelves of books 
- Two large, quiet reading rooms with reference book shelving 
- A computer room with at least 24 workstations 
- An open reception/administration area to register and sign into the library and check out books 
- A cloakroom where bags and other items belonging to library users would be checked in, located near the reception area before passing through to the library area 
- A small office for the librarian 
- A photocopying room 
- At least three toilets (male, female and disabled) adjacent to the library 
Phase Two: Building a classroom block
- 5 large classrooms 
- 3 science laboratories with adjacent lab technician’s secure storage room for chemicals and equipment 
- 1 IT suite with 30 workstations 
- Boys’ and girls’ separate toilet facilities 
Phase Three: Building a multiple-use hall
- A large hall that can be used for multiple purposes, e.g. sports, community events, lectures, training and as a prayer/ salat hall 
- Adjacent changing rooms (male and female) with toilet and wudu (ablution) facilities 
- A good-sized kitchen 
- An area adjacent to the hall where folding tables, chairs, prayer mats and sports equipment could be stored 
The site would also have:
- A playground/open area 
- An area for parking at least 10 cars 
- A borehole for water 
- An electricity generator to supply all three buildings 
- Roofs fitted with solar panels to help power computers, lights and air conditioning 
- A caretaker/security post at the entrance to the site
